It’s been 13 years since east first met west and Ock Pop Tok launched in Luang Prabang. A few weeks ago we marked an exciting new chapter in our story, with the Vat Sene store closing its doors for the last time. We’re excited to officially announce the opening of our new Boutique, located a few short blocks from our old location on the main street at 79 Sakkaline Road, opposite the 3 Nagas Hotel.
The new Boutique store is where Lao textile traditions and beautiful natural materials are reborn in contemporary designs for a new generation. Alongside our new pillow collection, intricate wall hangings and silk scarves, the Boutique also showcases our latest range of modern hemp and cotton garments designed for both men and women. Housed in a beautiful split building with a garden out the front, Passa Paa occupy the space opposite, as well as setting up their screen printing studio downstairs.
We’ve also re-launched our Ban Vat Nong shop, which will now be known as the Ock Pop Tok Flagship Store. It’s the place to see Lao textile traditions and the weaving techniques we keep alive for future generations. From our master weaver’s room filled with the finest weaves to traditional Lao sinhs rich in meaningful motifs, our Flagship store is the place to experience the unique beauty of Lao textiles.
We look forward to sharing this new chapter of our story with our friends and visitors – be sure to stop by the new Boutique next time you’re in Luang Prabang! In the meantime, check out some images of the Boutique, photographed by Ock Pop Tok intern Audun Berdal (and some work-in-progress pictures of the building during the renovation!)
