Fair Trade: We operate on a platform of fair trade that is reflected in everything we do. We are committed to taking care of the environment, honouring and respecting traditions, paying good wages (including benefits such as health insurance, paid leave, and profit sharing) and cultivating local and international markets that provide a sustainable source of income for Lao artisans and their communities.
Natural & Organic: We start with the finest, locally sourced natural and organic raw materials and oversee all aspects of production to ensure the highest quality products. Our products reflect a balance between tradition and innovation. Societies are dynamic and evolving and we believe that traditional crafts should be too. Our work is rooted in the textile traditions of Laos, however we appreciate and nurture innovation in our products and designs.
Collaborate with Communities: Laos is an ethnically diverse country and each group has its unique textile traditions. We encourage people to discover Laos through its textiles. To facilitate this, we collaborate with communities around the country to showcase their distinct skills and designs and honor their traditions and crafts.
Women’s Empowerment: We are strong supporters of women’s empowerment promoting economic stability and leadership opportunities for women, as they are the driving force behind Ock Pop Tok and the entire handicrafts industry.
Handmade in Laos: We are an international team that shares a common passion for textiles and cultural exchange, working together in ways that are creative positive and fun.
Tradition & Innovation: Our products reflect a balance between tradition and innovation. Societies are dynamic and evolving and we believe that traditional crafts should be too. Our work is rooted in the textile traditions of Laos, however we appreciate and nurture innovation in our products and designs.

Our Commitment to the Environment

As a social enterprise we strive to make our community a better place and a part of that is caring about our impact on the environment. We source all of our raw materials locally and seasonally in order to minimising our carbon footprint. This also reflects our commitment to the local community by supporting local business.

We aim to be a plastic free company and have taken to big steps towards this goal. We are working with our team to raise awareness and educate the local community about the issue of plastic pollution on as a global problem. We are committed to help OPT team members find solutions and reduce plastic use at work and in their personal lives.

We stopped using plastic straws in our cafes and replaced them with locally sourced bamboo straws. We also stopped selling plastic water bottles. We give all of our guest free purified drinking water. We also set up water refill stations at all of our shops and cafes so that people can refill their reusable water bottles for free with the mission of reducing the sale of plastic water bottles in the community.

We invite all our guests to be part of the solution! You can start by buying your very own bamboo straws and reusable water bottles in our shops and begin by eliminating single-use plastics from your life, too.
Every little bit helps!
