“I had the most wonderful stay over the last long weekend here in Laos. This is a very special place that is visually beautiful – stunning location by the river surrounded by beautiful textiles.” *****Colette M, Laos,
“In the early days, many students would come to the Living Crafts Centre (LCC) to take classes, and once the class was over, they did not want to leave and would ask if they could somehow stay overnight,” explains Jo. As space became available, it was natural that Veo and Jo decided to expand the offering at the LCC to include overnight accommodations.
A stay at the Mekong River offers an opportunity for travellers to relax in an exceptionally beautiful, peaceful and creative setting, away from the bustling tourist centre of town. Veiled by flowering vines and tropical foliage, the Villa is perched right on the banks of the Mekong River, with unobstructed views of the river and the surrounding mountains.
Adjacent to the LCC, the Mekong Villa offers the opportunity to engage with the culture and arts of Laos, while still allowing space for ample quiet and relaxation. Guests can enjoy leisure activities in the garden or try their hand at one of the weaving or natural dye classes. In-room massages and treatments are available upon request.
The on-site, award-winning Silk Road Café serves an excellent all day breakfast, brunch and lunch. The ‘east meets west’ menu is inspired by the cuisine of the old silk road, as well as local Lao delicacies. Great food, excellent drinks, comfortable seating and sweeping views of the river and gardens make the Silk Road Café an irresistible place to dine and take in the area’s natural beauty.
Whether you are relaxing in the tranquility of your well-appointed room, taking in a spectacular sunset on the Villa’s veranda, or exchanging greetings and conversing with our artisans and staff, you will feel at home!
The Villa features four exquisite rooms whose decor is inspired by artisan communities in Laos. A collaboration between Veo, Jo and our design team, each room is decorated and appointed to ensure your every comfort. The Hmong, Katu, Tai and Hill Tribe rooms feature textiles handmade by artisans we work with through OPT’s Village Weaver Projects. Each room features the highest quality mattresses, pillows and linens, along with air-conditioning and an en suite bathroom. Free wifi is available in the room and throughout the property. A daily complimentary full breakfast is included in the room rate and can be enjoyed en suite or at the Café.
