Living Crafts Centre

Our Living Crafts Centre, set in lush tropical gardens and located on the banks of the Mekong is the perfect place to learn more about the fascinating world of Lao textiles and handicrafts.

Bringing alive our concept of east meets west, all visitors to the LCC receive a free guided tour where you can marvel at the skills of our silk weavers and craft artisans and even meet our silkworm. After strolling around our gardens where we grow the plants for our natural dyes and seeing vivid hand-dyed silk drying in the sun, you never look at a scarf in the same way again!

As one of the most unique spaces in Luang Prabang, the Living Crafts Center is available for private hire and we offer a range of evening activities such as movie nights.

No visit to the Living Crafts Centre is complete without eating at the Silk Road Café. We’re very proud of our restaurant, which has become a destination in its own right, offering a range of delicious Lao and western dishes.

How to find us

The Living Crafts Centre is located 2km south of the town centre in Ban Saylom. We are open every day from 8am until 6pm. You can take our free tuk tuk shuttle from either of our shops in town to the LCC, which is a quick 5 minute ride.

Feel free to make your own way here from town, it’s about 10 minutes by bicycle or a 30 minute walk

Take the main street out of town, past Joma cafe in the direction of Kuangsi waterfall. As you pass Phousi Market on your left and the T-Juntion, look for our sign on the right hand side and go down the lane, right to the end where you will see our gates.
